Questions, answered plainly.
What does Amish raised mean?
The cattle are raised by Amish families on their own farms in Michigan and Ohio. Each farm signs our standard, which also covers grass-raised and grain-finished, no added hormones and no antibiotics.
Is the beef grass-fed?
It is grass-raised and grain-finished. The cattle live on pasture and are finished on grain, which is how these families have always raised beef. We say grass-raised, not grass-fed, because that is what it is.
Is it USDA inspected?
Yes. Every animal is processed at a USDA-inspected plant.
How much is a half beef?
$2,550 for 200 lb of finished beef, $12.75 a pound. Reserve it with $892.50 and pay the rest at pickup or before shipping.
How much is a quarter beef?
$1,350 for 100 lb of finished beef, $13.50 a pound. Reserve it with $472.50.
What is finished weight?
The weight of the packages that go in your freezer, after cutting and trimming. Not live weight, not hanging weight. Our shares are sold by finished weight, so the number you see is the number you get.
What is a 35% deposit for?
It holds your place in the next harvest and tells the farm how many animals to send. The balance is due at pickup or before we ship.
Where do I pick up?
In mid-Michigan, on the date we confirm by email. If you would rather not drive, shares ship by weight and boxes ship free.
Do you ship to Ohio?
Yes. Boxes ship free to Ohio, frozen, by 2-day service. Shares ship by weight.
How is the beef shipped?
Frozen, in an insulated box with gel packs, by 2-day service. Put it straight in the freezer when it arrives.
Can I choose my cuts?
Shares come as a balanced mix of steaks, roasts and ground beef from one animal. Whole-share buyers can send cut preferences when we confirm the harvest date.
When is the first harvest?
It is being scheduled now. Leave your email and we send the date before it goes public.
